Educational Special–Use Privileges

To date, three institutions of higher education, Indiana State University (ISU), Methodist College (MC) and North Carolina State University (NCSU), have been extended special–use privileges to the China & East Asia Resources Study©. Students, academics and others who wish to have access to this digital data base solely for educational purposes (not for resale or for–profit activities) should contact the following listed individuals and institutions.

Both ISU and NCSU have excellent independent study programs that could be tailored to individual needs for qualified applicants. ISU is especially strong in applications of Geographic Information Systems (GIS): Dr. Mausel is a world–leader in both GIS and Remote Sensing technologies. NCSU has outstanding resources programs (including geology, meteorology, oceanography, pedology, environmental applications, etc.) that would find the digital data base of great potential value for educational research.

MC, also, would work in a similar fashion with serious individuals & organizations. In particular, MC has indicated great interest in working with religious organizations whose interest is using the digital data base for planning & logistical support: the copyright holder would be happy to discuss making the data base reasonably available to such organizations, and will offer free (limited) advice on technical aspects. Another area of special interest to both Methodist College and to the Copyright Holder (Maness) is in the provision of special courses for military personnel at nearby Fort Bragg, etc. This unclassified data base can be effectively utilized to study a variety of inter–related geographic, political and resources phenomena of special interest to those whose duties include Asia.

Lindsey V. Maness, Jr., the sole copyright holder, would also be pleased to discuss (non–financial) assistance & cooperation with students interested in using the data base in support of theses and dissertations. Under certain limited conditions (to protect intellectual property rights, etc.), Maness will also consider well–defined uses of the digital data base in scholarly publications.
